Frequently Asked Questions
Still have questions?
Finding a therapist who understands your needs and aligns with your values matters. You’re always welcome to reach out with questions before deciding whether we’d be a good fit.
How do I get started?
Just click the “Get Started” or "Contact Me" button to send me a message! I’ll personally respond within 1–2 business days to discuss availability, insurance or self-pay rates, and next steps. If you have any questions about me or what it’s like to work with me, feel free to ask! Reaching out doesn’t commit you to scheduling an appointment, so there’s no pressure. It’s simply a chance to connect, get your questions answered, and figure out what you’d like to do from there.
What can I expect during my first session?
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other, gather background information, and discuss difficulties you’re experiencing along with your goals for therapy. I’ll check in early on how you’re feeling and address any anxiety or concerns you may have. We’ll also discuss therapeutic approaches that may best meet your needs, ensuring you feel comfortable with the direction of our work together. You’re welcome to ask questions at any time, and there’s no pressure to share your life story right away (although you're absolutely welcome to if you'd like!)
Do you offer in-person or virtual appointments?
I provide therapy exclusively through secure telehealth video sessions for clients physically located in Ohio. This allows you to attend appointments from a private, comfortable location without traveling to an office.
What ages do you work with?
I provide individual therapy only for adults ages 18 and older. I do not offer therapy for children or adolescents.
How often will we meet?
Your call! We can meet weekly, every other week, monthly, or less often. Many clients start with weekly sessions to build momentum and find relief, then gradually space sessions out as they make progress. Life happens, though, and stressors or changing circumstances may mean meeting more often again. That’s perfectly okay! We’ll adjust our schedule based on your goals, progress, and the level of support that feels right for you.
How long are therapy sessions?
Sessions are typically 60 minutes, though 30 or 45 minutes may be a better fit at times. Every session is different, and I’ll follow your lead rather than hold you to a set expectation. You won’t be rushed or have a session cut short before we’ve had a chance to wrap up comfortably.
Do I have to talk about my trauma?
Absolutely not! You are always in control of what you choose to share, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. Our experiences can shape how we see ourselves, other people, and the world around us, even when we don’t recognize those experiences as traumatic. I often focus on shedding light upon how the past affects you today and helping you find ways to heal and feel empowered, without needing to revisit painful details. If you want to explore your trauma more deeply, we can do that, too. Your healing is your own, and you get a say in how we approach it.
What if I’ve had a negative experience with therapy before?
Negative experiences with therapy are more common that I'd like them to be, and while it saddens me, you are not alone. I always consider what's worked and what hasn't in your past experiences and strive to create a space where feedback is welcome. My priority is helping you find therapy that truly benefits you, whether that's with me or another clinician. If we're not the right fit, I will provide thoughtful, individualized referrals based on your needs and preferences.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, I provide therapy but do not prescribe medications. If medication is something you’re interested in exploring as an addition to therapy, I'm happy to help clients find a qualified prescribing provider.
Do you provide emotional support animal (ESA) letters?
I love animals, but I do not provide emotional support animal (ESA) letters or offer therapy specifically for the purpose of obtaining ESA documentation. The Ohio CSWMFT Board advises that these evaluations require specialized training and clinical experience in assessing human and animal needs, risks, and liability, which I have not yet obtained.
How long does it take to receive a letter supporting gender-affirming medical procedures?
There is no universal number of sessions required to receive a letter supporting gender-affirming medical procedures. I follow WPATH standards and consider any applicable insurance requirements, the type of care being sought, and relevant documentation. While I generally estimate three 60-minute sessions, the timeline also depends on clinical stability and the ability to provide informed consent. My goal is to make the process respectful, collaborative, and free of unnecessary barriers.
What is your availability?
My current working hours are 10–6 Monday and 9–5 Tuesday through Friday. If these hours do not meet your needs, I still suggest reaching out, as I can sometimes accommodate requests for appointments outside my typical working hours. I cannot accommodate weekends.
